Saturday, the penultimate festival day, features a series of interesting titles in Europa, Tuškanac and Cineplexx Kaptol Centre. Many will have a chance to see Disney’s 1951 classic Alice in Wonderland for the first time on a big screen (1pm, Cineplexx Kaptol Centre), Europa is presenting Čakovec School of Animation (ŠAF), celebrating its 40th birthday this year, and there will be a Q&A with Croatian Competition 1 authors (Josip Žuvan, Anja Sušanj, Marko Meštrović, Tea Stražičić, Lea Vidaković, Dinko Kumanović, Joško Marušić) and Short Film Competition 5 – Chintis Lundgren (Life with Herman H. Rott) and Sarah Saidan (Beach Flags).
On Saturday, Animafest also visits your neighbourhood. Kids age 4 and above can watch cartoons suitable for their age free of charge at KUC Travno at 11am.
Those with a more professional interest in animation can check out a lecture at Tuškanac at 1pm, open to the public, held by a jury member and Oscar winner Chris Landreth. Opposite Karan Singh, he will be speaking about the art of facial animation. At the same time, the French Institute Mediatheque is hosting Alessandro Rak, Dalibor Barić and Tomislav Babić, feature film authors. Another lecture at Tuškanac is scheduled for 3.30pm by Swiss game designer Mario von Rickenbach, about approaches and experiences in visually experimental games. At Vinyl, Bogovićeva Street, at 5.30pm, there will be a presentation of the book Stoljeće filma u Čakovcu 1913-2013 by a group of authors, and Umetnost preterivanja (beleške jednog gledaoca) by Milen Alempijević.
The evening closes with a concert by the French musical-graphic digital pop duo Gangpol & Mit at VIP club at 11pm, with a follow-up by DJ Gonzo. Gangpol & Mit are performing at Animafest in association with Rendez-vous, festival of France in Croatia.
