Vista mare
A charming Italian village, nestled between the sea and the mountains, is drowned every summer by hordes of tourists hungry for ‘authenticity’. Between selfies, spaghetti binges, yachts, fires and postcard-perfect patriotism, the picturesque village is transformed into a grotesque Mediterranean theme park. But something seems about to give way.
Nicola Bartoleschi
Nicola Bartoleschi is a young animation filmmaker and 2D animator born in Rome in 1997. He got his BA diploma in animation at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia - National Film School of Turin in 2024 with the short film Vista mare, winner of the Giuseppe Laganà Award at Cartoons on the Bay 2025. He is passionate about history, geography, botany and everything grotesque.
Nicoletta Busto
Nicoletta Busto was born in 2000 in a small village in Piedmont, Italy. After a period of self-study, she enrolled at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, where she graduated in animation in 2024 with the short film Vista mare, winner of the Giuseppe Laganà Award at Cartoons on the Bay 2025. She works in 2D, cut-out and stop-motion animation, collaborating with visual and musical artists. She can work alone, but loves collaboration, the exchange of ideas and skills, freedom and experimentation.
Emanuele Ricciardi
Emanuele Ricciardi, born in Pescara in 1997, is a young Italian art director and animator. He graduated in animation from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – National Film School in Turin in 2024 with the short film Vista mare, winner of the Giuseppe Laganà Award at Cartoons on the Bay 2025. The grotesque and the absurd lie at the heart of his artistic exploration, often expressed through stark, claustrophobic black-and-white visuals. He is passionate about video games, underground comics and transfeminism.
