Before you gone
Today, it has been a year since you left. I sit in front of you, telling you about our family’s past, as well as my deepest longing and regrets for you. Emotions weave between memory and reality, leaving behind what was never spoken. Before You Gone adopts a personal narrative approach, interweaving real imagery with hand-drawn animation to capture the figures of deceased family members through the medium.

Xie Chia-Ping
Chia-Ping Xie, born in 1996, is from Taiwan. She studied film, design and animation before graduating from the National Tainan National University of the Arts in screenwriting. Her focus is primarily on experimental and hand-drawn animation. Her previous films are Room (2022) and Freedom (2023).
