Windows from the South
A breakup film. The narrative evolves through the author’s conversations with his long-term partner, contemplating the breakup of a nine-year-long romantic relationship. The film’s soundscape is built by documentary steps and animation illustrates the psychological and emotional spaces of these ‘breakup’ talks. To delineate the randomness of subconscious thoughts and emotional states, the author experiments with visuals with elements of surrealism, and the connections between the shots are associative. The film considers the double purpose of artistic effort: compressing and archiving a part of personal history in the film medium, at the same time using it as a form of therapeutic self-exploration and experimentation.
