Olga graduated from Belorussian Art Academy in 2000 (graphic department, with specializing on etching) Diploma of Excellence. From 1996 to 2003 Olga Marchenko (maiden-name) worked at studio Belarusfilm as art-director and animator mostly with sand animation technique with her parents. From 2003 to 2005 she studied at La Poudriere in Valence, France, working from 2004 to 2006 in Paris for different animation studios as storyboard artist. From 2006 Olga is living in Estonia and working at Joonisfilm studio. From 2008 her family name is Pärn. In collaboration with Priit Pärn she made 6 award winning films (90min altogether) as co-director and co-artist. Among 36 prizes received, 11 are Grand Prix from the prestigious festivals. 2014 Olga and Priit received Estonian State Cultural Prize for the best Estonian film of the Year for the film Pilots on the Way Home. For this film they developed a unique type of sand animation technique. Olga has run many demonstrations and workshops of sand animation and painting on glass all over the world. She was teaching at the Animation department at the Estonian Academy of Arts (2007-2019) as an associated professor. She was appointed as a professor in Tartu University Free Arts Department. In 2021 she received the Animakom Life Achievement Award from Bilbao Animakom International Animation Community Festival together with Priit Pärn. She is actively working as an illustrator mainly for children’s books and magazines.
