Synopsis

It grows slowly as an icicle, but one day it drops and crashes. Anka loves cats. And Jesus. In a winter silence the lagoon freezes and the unspoken resurfaces like a crack in ice. A mosaic portrait of a small fisherman's village where humans and animals are interdependent on each other and there is a delicate balance between warm tender care and cold emotional cruelty. An eerie story of loneliness and community narrated with magical realism.

Kasumi Ozeki collaborated with Tomek Popakul on films Acid Rain, Moon, and now Zima, from script doctoring through visual style development, character design and final edit.

Tomek Popakul

Tomek Popakul graduated from Łódź Film School in animation direction and special effects. His debut movie Ziegenort was shown at many festivals around the world. Another one of his projects, Acid Rain, received 35 awards, was shown at around 90 festivals, got a prestigious nomination for Annie Awards, and was on the  list of Oscar nominees. Created short hybrid animation Moon for HBO pandemic anthology At Home. Collaborated with Kasumi Ozeki on Acid Rain, Moon, and now Zima.
