Case Studies and the Fear(s) of the dark

On Friday, from 10 pm to 12, at the French Institute (Bogovićeva 1), all those interested in production, animated film in the sense of analysis and presentation can find out more if they visit the Production Analysis of Animafest Forum for project development. Faruk Šabanović (Birds Like Us) and Aron Gauder (Egill) will present the current phase of production of the animated projects from the first Animafest Regional Forum in 2007.

Later, from 2 pm to 6 pm, also at the French Institute, this year’s Regional Forum for project development will take place. Out of twelve films that entered the competition for this year’s Forum, six will be presented. The moderator of this year’s Forum is respectable Mike Robinson. The following films and filmmakers will be presented: She is a Stone (Svilen Dimitrov), Sarajevo Time Machine (Dino Mustafić), Heart in the Wall (Balbina Bruszewska), Tales From Gingerland (Tomaš Hubaček), Kitchen Stories (Atanas Georgiev), Wai (Gorazd Norčić).

Besides the Animafest Pro Programme, at 12.30 pm, at the Mediatheque of the French Institute, a discussion with Pedro Rivera, the creator of Animal Crisis, the film you had an opportunity to see in yesterday’s Late Night screening at 10.30 pm, will be held.

All those who did not manage to come to the opening of the exhibition Fear(s) of the Dark and have not seen it yet should certainly not miss on this exceptional opportunity – Valerie Schermann, the member of the Animafest Pro Jury and the founder and general director of the production companies Prima Linea and Prima Linea Productions will guide visitors through the exhibition at the Tower of Lotrščak at 7 pm.

In the Europa cinema, within the Grand Competition Programme, you can see the fantastic Waltz With Bashir, an autobiographic work of Ari Folman, and rhapsodic Sita Sings the Blues. The day will finish with blood-soaked Afro Samurai. Those who opt for the Movieplex cinema can enjoy the fairy-tale characters in Mia and the Migoo and Mary and Max or Hidden Treasure by Michel Ocelot, a renowned animation filmmaker.

And don’t forget we are partying at Apartman where Nik Phelps, the writer of the music score for Sita Sings the Blues will take to the dance floor! It is time for films and dance!
