Synopsis
In the near future, the Earth’s environment is completely destroyed by the human race. We have to abandon it and find a new home in space. After hundred years of space travel, we have re-engineered our DNA and artificially evolved into a new form. We jumped through the space singularity and found a new planet to settle. Many years go by before we realize that we didn’t reach a new world but returned to Earth in another time as a different life form, and our ancestors are now our predators. Several attempts are made to leave Earth, but each leads back to it. We eventually realize that time is an illusion; our past, present, and future are fused together.
Hsin-Chien Huang, born in Taipei City, is adept at combining VR, interactive installations, and performing arts to explore greater possibilities for human life through technology. In recent years, Huang’s revolutionary VR works have attracted international attention and won a variety of awards. His VR feature film La Camera Insabbiata, made in collaboration with Laurie Anderson, won the Best VR Experience Award at the 74th Venice Film Festival. Bodyless won an Honorable Mention at the 2020 Ars Electronica, and the Golden Mask at the Newimages Festival in Paris. His outstanding international performance continued in 2021, when his new work Samsara won the Jury Award at SXSW Festival and the Best Story in the Cannes XR.
