Synopsis
Defragmentation of the past. A painter, mother and child comprise a family nucleus. The loss of the mother leads to the dissolution of memory, and memories become signs, ritually trapped in infinity. The artist’s artificial space makes him clash with the surroundings. After sinking into a darkness of the soul, he immerses himself deep inside his mind. Fiction takes him to a shared spiritual experience in which he and the child are brought closer together. Through the means of art he finds a way to reconciliation. His art becomes an entrance into a surreal spiritual space in which he questions the humanist dimension of his own art.
Branko Farac (1962) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he lives and works. Since 1990, he has worked as fine arts teacher. He has held many exhibitions in Croatia and abroad. Besides painting, he also works as an illustrator and comic artist, makes animated films and publishes texts about comics theory. His previous animated films are Metahead (2003), Transoptic (2005), Psychomorph (2007), Technement (2018), and Psychographic (2022).
