Synopsis
Contemporary Japanese painting animation using painting materials such as mineral pigments, mud pigments and metallic foil. It sensuously depicts joy and anxiety, daily elusive emotions and the subtleties of interacting with people.
Akane Murata was born in Japan in 1993. She graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2018. She mainly uses mineral pigments and metallic foil, which are Japanese painting materials. Through paintings and animations, she abstracts scenes and also depicts the delicate and unstable relationships between the motifs. She received the B-gallery award at the Ikebukuro Art Gathering IAG AWARD (Tokyo, 2018) and an honorable mention at the 10th Kiyosu City Haruhi Painting Triennale (Aichi, 2021). Her major solo exhibition Their Landscape was held at B-gallery (Ikebukuro, Tokyo) in 2019.
