Synopsis
Siege has been announced in a town. Preparations against the enemy are in progress. The enemy doesn’t show up. The authorities find someone to blame for failures. He hides, ashamed. The authorities decide to fire a cannon at the enemy. A missing cannon ball is found. Cannon fire destroys the town, but demons stay awake. Pastiche of authoritarian power. A primeval story about giving up the individualism in the interest of defending so-called values. A film by Sławek Zalewski, based on a story by Sławomir Mrożek.
Slawek Zalewski is a graphic designer, animator, and director of animated films. He wrote and directed Owadeusz i trąba (animated short, 2007). In 2008, he created an animated film about the work of Stanisław Wyspiański for the National Museum in Krakow, Poland. In 2017, he created a series of animated films for the documentary about the dissident bard, Jan Kelus – Krótkie Popołudnie na Mazurach (Short Afternoon in Masuria), winner of First Prize in Gdynia Film Festival 2018.
