Synopsis
A cat chasing a mouse, in five different animation techniques.
Before directing his first feature film, My Life as a Courgette, Claude Barras directed several short films including The Genie in a Ravioli Can, which received numerous awards in film festivals around the world. Claude Barras’s unique connection with childhood transcends time and age differences; he has the rare gift of being able to make you laugh and cry at the same time. His stories are filled with realism and fantasy, humor and poetry. He was the impetus for adapting Gilles Paris’s Autobiography of a Courgette into a stop-motion animation film.
Claude Luyet (1948, Geneva, Switzerland) after graduating in graphic design focused on animation cinema. His films, of different styles, sometimes collaborations, have won awards at the festivals in Zagreb, Hiroshima, Oberhausen, Leipzig, Tróia, Treviso, Soleure, Valence, Bourg en Bresse, Vevey. He also collaborated on the first feature-length film of J. G. Laguionie, Gwen et le livre de sable (Gwen and the Book of Sand).
Animation director Georges Schwizgebel has created a remarkably original body of work. His films are marked by masterful technical execution, a playful approach to narrative, spectacular formalism, and the intermingling of visuals and music. His first film, The Flight of Icarus, launched a prolific career, boasting numerous awards at prestigious international festivals like Cannes, Annecy, Animafest Zagreb, Hiroshima, Stuttgart, Ottawa, and Espinho. The Ride to the Abyss (1992) is regularly cited as one of the finest animated films of all time. In 2017, Georges Schwizgebel received the Honorary Cristal in Annecy, followed by the Honorary Award of the Swiss Film Awards in 2018. In 2019, he was awarded the French insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters. He is the most awarded author in the history of Animafest, and was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020.
