Audience Award goes to Boles by Špela Čadež
06/08/2014

The last award at the 24th World Festival of Animated Film, the audience award Mr. M, named after the first festival director Želimir Matko, went to the film Boles by Slovenian filmmaker Špela Čadež, screened in the Grand Panorama section. An adaptation of Maxim Gorky’s story about a sentimental prostitute and a young writer unwillingly helping her in the correspondence with her fiancé adds another award to its rich portfolio of over 30 recognitions. Špela Čadež presented herself at Animafest 2014 also in the 3 x 3 section with her earlier puppet films, the technique she used for Boles as well. She was also a special guest of the exhibition Puppet in Croatian Animated Film. The audience confirmed the success of this year’s thematic festival guideline, acknowledging the demanding but unsurpassed and creative puppet film technique.
