Hefang Wei, art director and filmmaker, a Chinese resident in France. She had been practicing Chinese traditional painting and calligraphy from her infancy. After obtaining her degree in the Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in Chongqing, Hefang has experienced storyboarding in Beijing, then she joined La Poudrière in Valence, France, for two years training in directing of animated film. She has made three short films: Chant des klaxons, It's mine, Chroniques du pont, which received the Best French Animated Film at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand in 2011. Her Le Banquet de la concubine was nominated for the César Award for Best French Animated Film in 2014, and Bird flu, she co-directed with Estonian filmmaker Priit Tender. Hefang is now mostly working in Folimage studio as a filmmaker, and she is preparing a new short film in a collection of horror films with six other filmmakers. Meanwhile, she is supervising a Chinese feature film in CCTV (China Center Television) as an art director, and is also teaching at different art and animation schools. Recently, with two partners, Hefang has founded a production company Weilaï Productions based in Valence, specialized in short animations, live-action and commercials.
