OSMAN CERFON is a French animated film director born in 1981. After studying graphic design and training at the Beaux-Arts in Épinal, he completed his studies at La Poudrière animation school, where he directed three films, including Tête-à-tête, his graduation film in 2007. Since then, he has collaborated on various projects as a storyboard artist, screenwriter, and editor, while continuing to develop his narrative universe through his own short films. In 2010 and 2012, he directed No Need to Teach a Bear to Fly and Like Rabbits, produced by Jesuisbiencontent, both of which were selected for and awarded at prestigious festivals worldwide, including Annecy and Hiroshima. He has also collaborated with Disney EMEA on the development of TV series projects such as Best Bug Forever and Voodoo Meow. In 2018, his first short film produced and distributed by Miyu, I’m Going Out for Cigarettes, premiered and was awarded in Locarno, launching a successful festival run, including nominations for both the Annie Awards and the César Awards. In 2022, his short film, Aaaah!, also produced by Miyu, premiered at the 71st Berlinale and received a Special Jury Award in Zagreb. In addition to his directing work, Osman leads mentoring sessions at La Poudrière and conducts animation workshops for professionals, students, and public school audiences.
