Synopsis
A peddler helped an injured young man in the mountains, and the man invited him for a drink. A wondrous event happened when the man opened his mouth… Adapted from the chapter of Yang Xian Scholar in The Story of Jiqi, a collection of mystery folklore.
Liaoyu Chen is a film director and a professor at the Beijing Film Academy. Known for his unique teaching methods and sharp points of view, Chen was one of the few animation professors in the country to teach the subject after China established animation as a university major in the 2000s. For over 20 years he has been engaged in the research of various forms of visual art, especially in animation and multimedia. Chen was proclaimed, by the Chinese media, as the pioneer of shooting a film with simply a mobile phone camera.
Rui Hu (1978) received a Master’s Degree of Media Art at Bauhaus Universität Weimar, Germany. Between 2006-2010, he worked at Rothkirch Cartoon-Film GmbH, a Germany animation film company. In 2010, his short film The Visitor was selected in official selection at Annecy Animation Festival France. In 2017, he worked as the director of 2D animation for the animated feature film Foodiverse. He’s a lecturer in Shandong Normal University.
