  Main festival locations of the anniversary edition of Animafest Zagreb 2012 are: Europa, Tuškanac and Cineplexx Kaptol Centre cinemas. However, Animafest 2012 programme will be made available in the city streets, at ULUPUH Gallery and several other cultural centres.

Europa cinema
could be called Animafest’s central location. During the Festival, it will screen films from the Grand Competition and Grand Panorama. Besides, earlier in the day at Europa you will have a chance to see the winners of Animafest Grand Prix from 1972 until today, as well as films by Yoji Kuri, the winner of Animafest’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Tuškanac cinema
will host the Student Competition and Student Panorama, as well as films made by European animation schools, and animated TV serials. Tuškanac cinema small hall will be dedicated to Animafest Pro, a programme including Q&A’s with filmmakers, festival, school and book presentations.

Cineplexx Kaptol Centre
will become a children’s cinema, screening Children’s Competition films and a special Family Programme. Also, day-long educational programmes for children will be organised, consisting of exhibitions and workshops. Cineplexx will also present the Commissioned Films Competition and reruns of Grand Competition and Grand Panorama.

Animafest’s special events programme will be occupying other city locations, too. Animafest in Your Neighbourhood is a programme of free weekend screenings at Trešnjevka Cultural Centre and Dubrava Cultural Centre. An exhibition summarising 40 years of Animafest will be opened at ULUPUH Gallery, Tkalčićeva 14, while the Museum of Contemporary Art will host the first partnering project between these two institutions, entitled Animafest goes MSU, consisting of an exhibition of the acclaimed multimedia artist Ivan Marušić Klif and screenings of selected animated films from Animafest’s programme on the Museum’s multimedia facade.
