Kosmonaut / Cosmonaut

Synopsis
An old Cosmonaut lives in his flat in a concrete apartment building, leading the same life he led as a young man in a space station. Just like before, he still goes on heroic missions and misses his close relatives, whom he left behind on his home planet. His family sees the situation altogether differently. Is the old man capable of coming to grips with societal norms? A cosmonaut remains a cosmonaut, to the very end.
Kaspar Jancis (1975, Tallinn) created his first moving pictures in the corners of his school notebooks. He has been a member of several rock groups, writing lyrics and music, and making arrangements. He enrolled at the Tallinn Pedagogical College in 1996. There, he completed his first films: the silent film Dr. Maisarve and the Matshalka Case (1996) and the cut-out puppet film Flight of the Little White Helicopter (1996), which screened at rock concerts and on television. In 1997, he transferred from the Pedagogical University to the Turku Arts Academy in Finland to study animation under the guidance of Priit Pärn. He made his debut film Romance (1999) in Turku.
