At the World Animation Championship there are winners, but no losers. The biggest winners of all are definitely – the audience. Animafest’s most prestigious competition including film titles from 23 countries demonstrates a narrative and aesthetic opulence ranging from satire, allegory and psychology, to humour, love, intimacy and eroticism, to history, family, fairy tale and surrealism. Artists featured in this competition lean both on the cinematic past and mythology, and on experiment, sci-fi, punk and steampunk, pop culture and Americana, videogames and psychedelia, puppets and painting.
