Animafest Zagreb 2014 is a rounded up overview of international animation whose rich programmes include something for everyone; from poetical to humorous, from highly stylised to raw, from the most famous names, classics and Oscar winners to emerging talents and remarkable schools, from Japanese and Chinese independent animation, to the powerful cinemas of France, Canada, United Kingdom, to the lesser known works from African countries. Croatia, of course, has a special place. Animafest 2014 shows a total of 40 Croatian films, 12 of them in International Competition.
We are particularly pleased to present the successes of young filmmakers – Petra Zlonoga (Hunger in Grand Panorama), Čejen Černić (The Girl Who Loved Fairy-Tales in Grand Panorama), David Lovrić (Breakdown in Student Competition), Natko Stipaničev (The Dance Is Over Maria in Student Panorama) and Jelena Oroz (Comeback in Student Panorama). The Commissioned Film Competition includes Evotv: Autumn by Kristijan Petrović and Zagreb in the EU by Saša Budimir. Five Croatian films are included in the Children’s Competition, eight in Croatian puppet-film panorama, nine in Croatian Panorama, 11 in the overview of Croatian animation 1964-1965, as selected by Borivoj Dovniković.
