Synopsis
The Danish SF film, Solar Walk, by Hungarian director Réka Bucsi (graduate of the renowned MOME university in Budapest) was originally made for a jazz composition (it was even “performed” live as its accompanying piece). However, having won awards at festivals in Ottawa and Berlin, it was gradually transformed by critics into a “cosmic ode to creation” and “Odyssey for the new era.” By both using and subverting the known laws of physics, the film presents infinity and universe, as well as the relationship to the other and the unknown in a completely new and unexpected manner. The journey through space is at the same time a journey through mind, featuring unusual characters, melancholy, and the beauty of the chaotic cosmos. Inspired by astrophysics as much as by evolutionary biology, Solar Walk represents a fascination with universe shown through the talent of a new generation of animation artists. (Silvestar Mileta)
