Synopsis
January 1991 in Riga was the time of nonviolent resistance against Soviet authorities that tried to suppress struggle for country’s independence, and the offensive by OMON, special forces of the Soviet Militsiya, resulted in casualties. In Jānis Cimmermanis’ film, the head of Lenin cracks off from the monument; Militsiya officer on duty calls in the Avārijas Brigāde (Rescue Team), however, all their efforts to attach the head back in place result in other parts falling off. When this film, which shows the collapse of Soviet power using language of art, was finished, Soviet Union saw an attempt of coup d'état known as August Coup.
