Petra Balekić (1989, Đakovo, Croatia) holds an MA in Graphic Arts (2013) and Animation (2017) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. In the past years she has been active mainly in animated film – she made three short animations which toured the festival circuit. Her film Impacts earned her the main awards and a special mention at DepicT! Festival in Bristol in 2016. Her graduation film Stranger in My Head is currently doing the festival round and was selected for student competition categories in Zagreb and Annecy. In addition to creative projects, she works as an animator on other people’s projects and pursues illustration. The picture book Povratak šume Striborove, a product of her collaboration with writer Mirko Ćurić, was published recently.
