Michaela Pavlátová is an animation director from Czech Republic. With a visually impressive style and lots of humour she deals with themes like sexuality, marriage and sexism and how these are shaped through modern culture. Her films (Words, words, words, Repete, Carnival of Animals, Forever and Ever, Tram) have received numerous awards at international film festivals, including an Oscar nomination, Annecy Cristal, Golden Bear in Berlinale, Grand Prix at the International Animation Festival Hiroshima, etc. Pavlátová also directed two live action feature films (Unfaithful games and Night Owls) but her heart belongs to animation. She gives masterclasses and workshops at universities and festivals around the world. Since 2016 she is the chair of Animation Department at FAMU Prague.
