Synopsis


Mamie lives in Gaspésie in a house that faces away from the sea. When the old woman receives an expropriation notice, her cloistered world crumbles. Her granddaughter witnesses this uprooting and starts to question the lack of real ties between them.

Janice Nadeau


Janice Nadeau (1977, Gatineau, Canada) has illustrated numerous books — including No Fish Where to Go (2003) and Harvey (2008) — and is a three-time recipient of Canada’s prestigious Governor General’s Literary Award. She also directed the animated films No Fish Where to Go (NFB, 2014, with Nicola Lemay) and Mamie (NFB/Folimage, 2016), which were shown at more than 50 international festivals. Nadeau trained as a graphic designer and illustrator, and she holds a master’s degree in film studies. She currently teaches at the UQAM School of Design.
