Synopsis

Joe, a solitary deaf boy, sees his entire world turned around when a little robot from outer space crashes into his yard. If sign language turns out to be the only way to communicate with the robot, he proves to be a maestro when it comes to fixing things, and Joe is suddenly surrounded by new friends. But fixing stuff can have its drawbacks...

Stéphane Piera

Fresh out of Applied Art School in Paris, Stephane Piera (1963, Paris) started his career as an animator, then worked for a while as a professional musician and composer, before returning to animation where, without abandoning his pencil, he turned towards directing and screenwriting. Having devised, written and illustrated several projects, written over 100 TV scripts and directed two animated series, he collaborated on the scripts and production of such short films as Skhizein by Jérémy Clapin (who he called on to do the graphic design on Spanneroo & Joe), Plume by Barry Purves, and most recently, Carapace by Flora Molinie.
