Synopsis
In a Good Wayis a 2D animation about a typical Asian salaryman who has decided to leave his job and returned to his hometown. En route, he encounters a pine tree blocking his path. He takes the tree home and tries to plant it in his garden, but finds that the tree has a will of its own – just like the salaryman. Created with a flowing ink painting style reminiscent of Ukiyo-e, Tsai’s poetic story addresses how society tries to shape and distort people. Whether it is a boss in a corporate office or a gardener holding scissors to prune a tree, it is important to respect one’s true voice and follow one’s natural path.
