Synopsis
Dota is an exploration in sound and vision which combines traditionally animated stop motion line play with a female voice. The lines appear, disappear and interact just like threads in a fabric, create and dissolve embroidery. The lines compose the visual part of the fabric, against the audio backdrop of a voice and a song. The film’s title describes the local tradition of a dowry, objects and belongings prepared for a girl, often woven or embroidered fabrics, she brings into her new family after marriage.
“The author no longer matters. His work should be a discovery even to him. He studies environment, objects, pure optics, pure psychology, visual quality, ambience. He first of all plays and explores.” (Fifth interview)
Petra Zlonoga has been playing since 1982. Before she mainly played with graphic design and illustration and lately she likes to play with film, mainly animated and experimental.
