A rising star in international children’s literature and animation, Yumi Joung has won awards at Bologna Children’s Book Fair for two consecutive years with Dust Kid and My Little Doll’s House. These were originally produced as short animation films, followed by other successful animation shorts Math Test (2010), and Love Games (2012), which was officially invited to the competition at Berlin International Film Festival, and since then, it has been screened at more than 60 festivals in Korea and overseas, winning in 2014 the Grand Prix at Animafest Zagreb. Other works by Joung include Paranoid Kid, a picture book comprised of images produced by the artist during 45 sleepless nights that has been translated into Spanish and published in six countries in Latin America. Her illustrated version of the traditional Korean fairy tale, The Tiger and the Persimmon, has been published in China by Meridian and is sold across the country.
