BOOK PRESENTATION: Visual Music

A collection of essays, Visual Music, published by 25 FPS, Association for Audio-visual Research, is an overview of the artists’ never- ending desire to achieve an all- encompassing abstract work. This complex art form, progressing hand in hand with the history of film and development of technology, is on a quest for visual forms of music. Instruments characteristics – the colour organ – producing visual music, strategies of correlations between music and image, and different social and historical circumstances are portrayed through five essays written by film theorists and historians.
