Create your own video game at Animafest
05/09/2016

Young artists and computer experts will, once again, have the opportunity to develop their own video game during Animafest Zagreb, on the workshop which is a part of the Animafest Pro section.

Animafest organizes the workshop together with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER) and Academy of Fine Arts (ALU) of the University of Zagreb, and is is meant primarily for students of those faculties, but all the participants with appropriate programming knowledge are also welcome.

Mentor of this year's workshop will be Andrej Kovačević, the founder of Exordium Games, independent studio for the development of computer games from Zagreb.

Apart from mentoring and the usual game jam, the workshop will include informing the participants on recent trends in gaming industry in Croatia and the world, and the introduction to all parts of the professional production process - from production and marketing to its design and placement.

Exordium Games, namely, successfully funded their first major bestseller - Nephi's Fall - on Kickstarter crowdfunding platform, and is currently working on several different projects for mobile platforms and desktop computers!

Since its beginnings, Animafest's videogame workshop became a great opportunity for connecting the programmer, animator and illustrator community. Last three years numerous interested participants have been given the chance to meet the transmedia connection between animation and computing.

The workshop participants will be divided into small teams of designers and programmers to develop, together with their mentors, their own video game, from 6th till 10th June, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, and will present their work on the last day of the festival. Also, thanks to the partnership with Lenovo, the best team of the workshop will be awarded with Lenovo tablet!

Workshop participation is free of charge and the number of participants is limited to 20. Students are eligible to apply by filling in the APPLICATION FORM, until 22nd of May.  Workshop-related questions should be sent to the following address: [email protected].
