Synopsis
The 365-second animation consists of a sequence of 8760 pictures, all different in shape and color, hand-drawn by the director every day for 365 days. This is the ultimate analogue approach by an abstract animated filmmaker in the digital era.
Mirai Mizue (1981) studied animation and illustration at the Tama Art University, where he graduated from the Graphic Design Department. Mizue is a representative figure of the new generation of abstract animation in Japan. His films include Fantastic Cell (2003), Trip!-Trap! (2005), Lost Utopia (2007), Devour Dinner (2008), Jam (2009), Playground (2010), Modern No. 2 (2011) among others.
