Synopsis
Based on Paco Roca’s comic of the same title Wrinkles portrays the friendship between Emilio and Miguel, two aged gentlemen shut away in a care home. Re-cent arrival Emilio, in the early stages of Alzheimer, is helped by Miguel and col-leagues to avoid ending up on the feared top floor of the care home, also known as the lost causes or “assisted” floor. Their wild plan infuses their otherwise tedi-ous day-to-day with humor and tenderness, because although for some their lives are coming to an end, for them it is just a new beginning.
Animator and director Ignacio Ferreras counts as career highlights his work on Sylvain Chomet's The Illusionist (2010) and storyboarding Asterix and The Vi-kings (2004). Since 2005 he combines his occupation with lecturing and teaching at the Animation Workshop (Denmark), the National Film School of Denmark, and at Volda University College (Norway). In 2002 he made the short film How to Cope with Death, awarded with the “Jean-Luc Xiberras” prize for Best First Short Film at Annecy 2003, as well as 22 other international awards.
