De tijd / De tijd

Synopsis
Straight monochrome image is transformed into a dramatic, silent spectacle where the colour subtly melts and solidifies lines and transfusing conical shapes. Colours eventually lose intensity, leaving only the basic structure, the "skeleton" picture. For this computer abstract film, Vegter used Fourier transformation.
Bart Vegter (1940-2011) was an autodidact with a unique opus of nine films made in thirty years. From the first film, made with the classic animation techniques, to the very last, computer generated one for which he was writing the software himself, he remained devoted to the abstract in the best tradition of avant-garde film.
