Mamoru Hosoda (1967) is a Japanese film director and animator. After gaining his experience in animation at studios Toei Animation and Madhouse, he first came to public attention in the early 2000s with the first two films in the Digimon Adventure series. Later, he made the critically acclaimed films, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (2006), Summer Wars (2009), Wolf Children (2013), and Mirai (2018), presenting them at festivals worldwide and winning numerous awards both in Japan and internationally.
