Synopsis
The story of a family road trip across the Canadian prairies set in the 1970s. An exuberant exploration of childhood imagination, Big Driveinvites audiences of all ages to see the world as it appears “from the back seat.“ In an era before in-car movies and video games, four sisters squeeze into the back of the family car for a long journey.
Anita Lebeau is the award-winning writer and director of Louise (2004), her first film for the National Film Board of Canada, which received awards in Hiroshima and Annecy. Big Drive is Lebeau’s second film for the NFB. Lebeau has been involved with animation for over twenty years. Her freelance projects include seventeen animated pieces for Sesame Street and Sesame Park. She has also assisted on films by Richard Condie and Cordell Barker. In creating her own animated films, Lebeau is able to nurture her interdisciplinary interests in writing, drawing and music.
