Synopsis

Pärn‘s masterpiece. Several episodes each focus on a different figure. Towards the end they all come together to replicate the famous painting by Édouard Manet that provides the title. The film deals with bureaucratic arbitrariness, corruption, the opposition between words and deeds.

Priit Pärn

Priit Pärn was born on August 26, 1946 in Tallinn. He graduated from the Department of Biology at the University of Tartu in 1970, and worked as animated film director in Tallinnfilm Studio since 1976 and at Eesti Joonisfilm Studio since 1994. He has been active as a caricaturist and illustrator since the end of the 1960's and has received a lot of prestigious international awards for his caricatures. From the early 1980s he has been working more and more as freelance graphic artist. Pärn has had over 50 solo graphic exhibitions all over the world. He has made 18 animated films as a director, scriptwriter and art director. He has received more than 80 awards from world`s top festivals, including 22 Grands Prix.
