Božidar Trkulja (1975) graduated from the School of Textile, Leather and Design, studied theology at the Faculty of Theology and since 1997 he has been working as a journalist, editor and film critic (Vjesnik, Forum, Lider, Zapis, HRT). Author of award-winning stop-motion puppet films Story from the Beginning of Time (2012) and The Last Quest (2017). Concept designer and scriptwriter of the comic book Academy of Wonder (2013). Author of exhibitions From Comic Book to Animated Film (2013), Puppet in Croatian Animation (2014), The Last Quest: Fantastic Exhibition of Puppets and Set Design (2017) in Zagreb, Puppet Time – Exhibition of Fantastic Actors (2018) in Rijeka, as well as the project exhibition Time of the Heart (2019) in Zagreb, on which he collaborated with 50 Croatian artists and published Re/Animation Journal – a newspaper and website promoting culture. He sits in juries and selection committees for film festivals, holds stop-motion workshops for children and adults, writes scripts and poetry, makes puppets and designs sets, and when he is in good mood he also composes music.
