Synopsis
A father says goodbye to his young daughter and leaves. As the wide Dutch landscapes live through their seasons so the girl lives through hers. She becomes a young woman, has a family and in time she becomes old, yet within her there is always a deep longing for her father.
Michael Dudok de Wit is a Dutch director born in 1953 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. Red Turtle is his feature animated debut. His short animation Father and Daughter earned him an Oscar award in 2000, as well as Animafest Zagreb Grand Prix in 2002. Also, Michael writes and illustrates children's books and teaches animation at art academies in England and internationally.
