Gianluigi Toccafondo (San Marino, 1965) graduated from the Urbino School of Fine Arts and now lives in Bologna. In his work he sets painting in motion through a technique that established him in the 1990s as one of the leading directors of animated cinema: he uses pre-existing images (magazine photos, film stills) that he distorts with photocopying, then reworks with acrylic, pencil or any other medium, before re-filming them one by one. Gianluigi Toccafondo has also worked as an assistant director on Matteo Garrone's Gomorra in 2008, and in 2010 created the credits for Ridley Scott's Robin HoodHe does illustrations for publishers such as Corraini, Mondadori, Bup and L'aboreto. He has exhibited his drawings and silkscreen prints in numerous galleries in Italy and abroad (Tokyo, Paris, New York...).
