Weekend time is already traditionally scheduled for the best festival titles that visitors can enjoy relaxed and easy-going – all day long.

A sneak-worthy films from today’s Europa schedule is a somewhat kinky film My Dog Tulip, depicting the relationship between the owner and his gold-haired dog; otherwise, cheer yourselves up with The Beatles’ music at the free screening of The Yellow Submarine. Repetition has never harmed anyone – Coraline is scheduled for 6:15pm, with a lecture by Marc Shapiro from the renowned LEICA Studio. Fans of somewhat exceptional animation will love The Mysterious Presages of León Prozak and Gravity Was Everywhere Back Then, a film entirely made in real-life town built by the director in his own back yard.

THE UGLY DUCKLING,Garri Bardin, 2010, 74' / 6pm Europa cinema
The timeless fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen in an animated version with puppets. A cockerel discovers a giant egg and secretly adds it to the nest of a nearby hen. The hatched bird is very different from its sibling chicks. The others bully it and have great fun humiliating and excluding it from the community.

MY DOG TULIP, Paul Fierlinger, Sandra Fierlinger, 2009, 83' / 8pm Europa cinema
My Dog Tulip is an animated film based on a true account of a middle-aged man adopting an Alsatian dog he named Tulip. She turned out to be the love of his life, the ideal companion he had been searching for in vain for years.

YELLOW SUBMARINE, George Dunning, 1968, 90' / 10pm Europa cinema - FREE ADMISSION
The Beatles, at the height of their popularity, made this psychedelic animated feature. The magical Pepperland is invaded by the Blue Meanies, who have declared war on all that is good, especially music. Animated film set to Beatles music, loaded with surreal visuals and typical Beatles humour.

ELEANOR’S SECRET, Dominique Monféry, 2009, 90’ / 11am Tuškanac cinema
Seven-year-old Nat can’t read, making his inheritance of Aunt Eleanor’s collection of books immensely disappointing. Despite his love of having Eleanor read to him, his disinterest encourages his parents to sell the collection to a greedy collector. Once sold, Nat discovers that the library contained only first editions and even more, that the fictional characters come to life.

FIMFÁRUM - THE THIRD TIME LUCKY, Kristina Dufková, Vlasta Pospíšilová, David Súkup, 2010, 75' / 1pm Tuškanac cinema
A film made by puppet animation is an adaptation of three fairy tales by Jan Werich. The first story sets out to the Šumava mountains to find out whether Ogres ever lived there. The middle tale concerns a king who sends his three sons to bring back a lost hat, while the third fairy tale teaches us about two virtues, luck and intelligence, that compete and change the life of a pig herder.

THE RAINBOW, Joško Marušić, 2010, 74' / 4pm Tuškanac cinema
The animated adaptation of Šimunović's tales speaks about the generational gap and a girl called Srna who decides to pass under the rainbow and become a boy. A combination of pastel drawings and 3D animation marked the new beginning of the national production of feature animated films after a two-decade break.

CORALINE, Henry Selick, 2009, 96' /  6:15pm Tuškanac cinema
The director of the acclaimed 1990s film The Nightmare Before Christmas, Henry Selick combined stop motion and computer animation to create a film about the girl Coraline, who discovers an alternative, much more interesting version of her life behind the secret doors in her home. Imaginative and somewhat creepy adaptation of the 'twisted' world of Neil Gaiman, the author of the book the film is based on.

GRAVITY WAS EVERYWHERE BACK THEN, Brent Green, 2010, 75' / 8:15pm Tuškanac cinema
Inspired by the real actions of the eccentric Leonard Wood, filmmaker Brent Green brings to life a love story in his first feature-length film.  Shot entirely on the full-scale town he built in his backyard, Green combines animation, stop-motion and live-action in an ethereal opus to lovers and tinkerers everywhere.

THE MYSTERIOUS PRESAGES OF LEÓN PROZAK, Carlos Santa, 2009, 67' / 8:15pm Tuškanac cinema
León Prozak lends his head to Mefistópheles for a circus act. This film consists of kaleidoscopic scenes, animations, made by different visual artists, whose work is based on the pleasure of painting in time. These animated paintings take on several topics, from politics to eroticism, by expressing a shocking vision on the world.
