In addition to rich festival programmes, Animafest’s visitors and audience will enjoy a series of side events. Three concerts for evening relaxation: the highlight is definitely the traditional Animators Play (Thursday, 5 June at Melin café bar), with Lei Lei as VJ. Judging by the previous years, other animators will join him in a happy jam session. The festival opening will also be accompanied with a concert, on Friday, 6 June, ‘jazz time’, and the closing on Saturday, 7 June at Vip club, rock band My Buddy Moose from Rijeka is scheduled.

Once again there is the musical category Cinema for the Ear presenting music videos, while those who decide to take a walk around Novi Zagreb will be able to see 16 site-specific animations on the Museum on Contemporary Art media façade. Lovers of expanded animation will not miss the presentation of Ars Electronica, the leading world festival of media art, presenting through ten works how video-mapping creates augmented reality or spectacular cyber installations and projections on buildings in Seoul and Weimar.

Next to these exhibitions, workshops and symposium, the audience will be able to attend three book presentations – about visual music (with an accompanying film programme), Dušan Vukotić and Nedeljko Dragić and conversations with authors at the French Institute Mediatheque. Finally, the centre of all the joyful events will be Animafest’s bowler hat-shaped festival stand in front of Europa cinema where the audience and participants will be able to get all the information, participate in promotional activities and prize draws and obtain tickets at favourable prices.
