Animafest is not an exclusively Zagreb-based festival anymore; this year’s edition, however, will spread across Croatia.

During the festival, audience all over Croatia will have a chance, for this first time simultaneously with the Zagreb edition of Animafest, to enjoy artistic animation which cannot be seen in regular cinema listings. Nineteen chosen animated films will be screened in as many as 16 independent theatres in Čakovec, Daruvar, Gospić, Koprivnica, Korčula, Novska, Pazin, Poreč, Pula, Rovinj, Samobor, Sisak, Split, Osijek, Velika Gorica and Zabok.

The section Animafest in Independent Theatres – Let’s Go to the Movies! is a collaboration between Animafest and the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, a continuation of the successful independent cinema digitization project, offers a selection from three festival segments: Cartoon d’Or (six short films nominated for the most important European animation award), Children and Youth Programme (selection of seven short films), Puppet Film (five titles from Animafest’s central theme programme), as well as the winner of the last year’s feature edition, Approved for Adoption.
