Long Story Short: Production analysis of the Cricket & Antoinette

Production analysis of the Cricket & Antoinette, the first Croatian feature-length 3D CGI film, completed in early 2023. As in any pioneering project, it is a journey into the unknown. From idea to development and elaboration, a series of problems and challenges are encountered along the way, and the realisation sometimes seems impossible. From conceiving to gathering the team and ensuring technical conditions for the production, one goes through an epic adventure, and at the end, we are too surprised that we've managed to finish the film. A presentation of this thirteen-year long journey.

Dino Krpan graduated in product design in Zagreb in 1995. Since 2001, he produces animated and experimental films. With his experimental debut Alea iacta est (2006) he won several international awards. From 2008 to 2012, he teaches post-production at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. His second animated film Strange Invention (2010) has taken part in more than 30 festivals. He has produced nine short animated films presented at more than 150 festivals. His third film, Malleus Dei (2018), is still touring festival circuit. Since 2014, he has been teaching computer animation at the Film, Television and Multimedia Department at VERN’ University of Applied Sciences.
