Synopsis
2123. Faced with diminishing resources, the human race can only survive through a trade-off: at the age of 50, every citizen is gradually turned into a tree. When Stefan discovers that his beloved wife Nora has voluntarily signed up for donating her own body before her time, he sets out on an adventurous journey to save her at all costs.
Tibor Bánóczki (1977, Sárospatak, Hungary) took a degree in animation at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, he continued his studies in animation direction at the National Film and Television School in the UK where he embarked on his artistic partnership with Sarolta Szabó. They both moved to France and made two short animations together which screened at festivals including Sundance and Clermont-Ferrand. The animation duo now live and work in Hungary. Műanyag égbolt is their debut feature-length film.
Sarolta Szabó (Budapest, Hungary in 1975) took a degree in photography at the city’s Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, she studied photography at the Royal College of Art in London where she began, in 2007, to make animation films with Tibor Bánóczki. In 2010, the two moved to France and made the short animations Les Conquérants and Leftover. Both films screened at numerous festivals and were shortlisted for a César. The duo now live and work in Hungary. Műanyag égbolt is their debut feature-length animation film.
