Synopsis
A waitress in her job is routinely serving coffee and thinking about escaping her reality. A patron keeps recording and replaying the sounds at the café, completely obsessed with this action. Apathy is a state of mind leading to stagnation, but are any of them aware that they are themselves examples of this state?
Ivana Bošnjak Volda (1983) graduated from the Graphics Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb and Animation at the University in Volda, Norway. Her graduation film Crossed Sild, made in collaboration with Lea Vidaković, has been screened and awarded at many international festivals. With her partner Thomas Johnson Volda she made two puppet films, Simulacra (2014) and Imbued Life (2019), produced by Bonobostudio and screened at many international festivals, garnering several awards. Ivana has professionally taken part in different stop-motion projects across Europe and held animation workshops for children and students.
Thomas Johnson Volda (Bath, England, 1984) graduated in Time Based Media from the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff, and at the New Media Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb. Thomas has co-directed two stop-animation short films together with his partner Ivana Bošnjak, Simulacra (2014) and Imbued Life (2019), with Bonobostudio. The films have been screened at many festivals, and have received several acclaimed awards. Thomas is a multi-disciplinary artist whose works often connect animation and performance arts. He has staged puppet plays at many international festivals and galleries across Europe.
