Synopsis

The Ascent is told from the perspective of Zain, a Saluki dog. In the morning Mikha drives Daniel to the Spaceport from which his rocket will launch later that night. Zain will set off on an adventure that will take him through the city, chasing scents which trigger memories of the couple's relationship, and his own history with Daniel, trying to find his pack leader Daniel.

Matti Vesanen

Matti is a forward-thinking animation director and 3D artist. His background is in practical filmmaking, live visuals and motion graphics. He has directed and animated many highly acclaimed commercials and won one ADC’E Gold, three Silver Awards at Vuoden Huiput, Junior of the Year at Vuoden Huiput and a Vimeo Staff Pick. He has also been heavily involved in Helsinki’s club scene since 2012, by making live visuals and interactive installations at major festivals to underground raves. He’s a co-founder of Veli Studio.
