CHILDREN AND YOUTH PROGRAM | ANIMAFEST IN HOSPITAL
ANIMAFEST IN HOSPITAL
Giving children during hospital treatment access to film, making it possible for them to meet and talk to creative people from the world of cinema, discussing with them about the seen content and only for a moment flying them away from daily hospital life… All these are elements of the section ‘Film in Hospital’, implemented since 2014 in Zagreb’s hospitals by the association Djeca susreću umjetnost (Kids Meet Art).
The World Festival of Animated Film - Animafest Zagreb involved in the ‘Film in Hospital’ programme in 2017 as a festival partner, making it possible to screen a part of the festival line-up and meet directors and film critics to the wards of five hospitals in Zagreb. An inclusive approach and a possibility to see the films from a hospital bed particularly thrills young patients, their parents, hospital staff and is in line with the objectives of the festival content available to everyone.
Starting from this year, thanks to EU funds from the MEDIA Programme and the support from the Croatian Audiovisual Centre and City of Zagreb, this programme is implemented in 20 hospitals across Croatia. Little patients will be given access to films via the online platform www.filmubolnici.org / https://filminhospital.eu. In association with the partners JEF (Belgium) and BUFF (Sweden), recent European production for children and young audience will be available, as well as a large number of titles from previous Animafest editions and the carefully select animated films by Croatian authors.
