Synopsis

An ambitious and marvelous story of a woman's journey from suicidal despair to personal rebirth, with the help of an unlikely spirit guide. Joy Street is entirely hand-painted and took four years to complete. Winning a Fulbright Grant, Pitt traveled to remote rainforest regions of Mexico and Guatemala to create paintings of the nearly extinct patches of the remaining virgin forest, which were subsequently animated for the film. The music was composed by Roy Nathanson, with the title song recorded by Debby Harry.
