Marko Tadić: Side View

06–10/06 Tue–Sat: 09–21 h Tunel Grič, Tomićeva 5 (entrance from Art Park)

Combining collage, drawing, found materials like old postcards and maps, Tadić creates new spaces of wandering across short film narratives. Using stop frame animation, Tadić creates gentle shifts to carefully balance between different media. The moving images we see are shown as part of reproductions of spaces/objects evoking familiar elements from the history of cinema – cinema speaker’s resonant body, scaffolding military cinema’s screen etc. Every installation treats the space of the observer and the space of the screening differently. Building them like boxes and placing them like models, Tadić puts us in a double role: a cinema viewer and an exhibition visitor. The films are set in wooden installations, inside galleries, creating a sort of new sound installation when the sounds of all the five films blend into one, common soundtrack.
